BEN VEDREN

Ben Vedren is one of the key voices in the contemporary house music conversation. The Frenchman was not only a resident at the cult Concrete in his hometown of Paris but is also one half of H2H with deep house legend Chez Damier as well as being a certified Ableton Trainer. His vast array of skills and experiences always play out in the classy music he makes for his own Reduce Records and labels like Perlon, Djebali, Balance, Eklo and many more.

Vedren started his career as a composer and sound engineer in Paris then later devoted himself to his own productions. Collaboration with other artists is a huge part of Ben’s DNA, most famously with Chez Damier under the project H2H (Heart 2 Heart), where they experiment with music but also teach and encourage new talents. Another major collaboration is his project with Leiris, a longtime music partner under the alias Monkey Nenufar, where they play live and take a unique and inventive approach to minimal and techno. He has also worked with Ricardo Villalobos and dropped EPs on plenty of the scene’s most cultured labels, many of which have picked up high-profile support from tastemaking DJs.

Ben has played key clubs and festivals all around Europe from EXIT to Mutek Montreal, Womb Tokyo to Trouw Amsterdam via Rex Club, Tresor, Half Baked, Club der Visionaere and many more. His live and DJ performances always manage to fascinate and captivate with their expressive synth lines, subversive grooves and deep meaningful moods. He is truly an artist that has mastered the skill of making all of his dancers feel united as one on the musical journeys he serves up.

Next to this he has served up an acclaimed audio-visual show, Bi-Oscillations, at the world-renowned Pompidou Centre in Paris and has collaborated with several designers on projects that investigate the interaction between sound, space and material objects. All this shows Vedren is an inquisitive musical mind who comes at house and techno from a unique perspective that never fails to captivate his audiences.
